Lonabrak - New workboat for Shetland

Macduff Shipyards, one of Scotland’s best-known shipyards has just completed the latest purpose built fish farm vessels for Scottish Sea Farms. The Lonabrak was grant funded with support from SEERAD.

The Lonabrak name comes from the Shetland word for breaking water she, is described as a versatile catamaran designed by Macduff Ship Design with a large deck capacity. Layout below deck comprises of port hull-storeroom and toilet, engine room and steering compartment.

 

The Lonabrak is now an essential part of everyday working life at Scottish Sea Farms Hoy marine site; enabling feeding and other daily work to take place efficiently.

    

Technical Specification;

Length: 12.44m

Breadth: 6m

Depth: 2.10m

Engine: Twin Mermaid Mistral diesel each rated 169hp at 2500rpm driving through PRM 1000D4. Gearboxes with 4:1 reduction ratio engines and gearboxes.

The vessel also has Exalto sterngear with flexible stuffing boxes and flexible couplings driving Exalto handed propellers.
