Quality Philosophy

Scottish Sea Farms provides a world-class product in terms of quality, cost, performance, safety and reliability to customers.

We adhere to a Total Quality Management (TQM) system that satisfies the requirements of HACCP, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 (environmental management), BRC Global Standard (Food), Freedom Foods (RSPCA monitored), customer codes of practice and product specification, and other industry standards including Scottish Quality Salmon and Shetland Seafood Quality Control.

Our TQM system also enables us to audit key suppliers, assuring that they conform to the rigorous standards required in our product specification and sustainability pledge.   Effective quality management is maintained through a routine programme of external audits, continued internal monitoring and formal management review.

Our quality policy is central to all tasks performed in order to achieve the following objectives:

  • To ensure that we produce a 'Safe and Legal product', with full traceability
  • To continually strive to improve quality, safety and environmental performance by eliminating the root causes of problems which affect the company's ability to effectively deliver quality salmon
  • To preserve the environment at site locations and to ensure that the health and welfare of staff and neighbours is properly protected
  • To supply top quality Atlantic salmon which meets and exceeds the requirements of customer and industry standards
  • To encourage and provide all employees with the necessary training to carry out their responsibilities competently, and to actively encourage each employee to realise his or her own potential
  • To effectively communicate the quality philosophy and objectives to all employees, and promote individual 'ownership' and responsibility for the quality system
  • To provide employees with sufficient resources to ensure that a hygienic, safe and practical working environment is created at all sites

This policy is fully endorsed by senior management.
